SouthTrust Bank HQ
Located in the city of Charleston, SC, at the corner of Meeting and Cumberland Streets, this 4 story 30,000 GSF building was the headquarters for SouthTrust Bank which was purchased by Wells Fargo. The first floor was a retail bank. The second floor was for mortgage and lending services. The third floor was for credit administration. And the fourth floor was the executive suite. The exterior palette used three materials - stucco a material commonly found in Charleston architecture; precast - a modern material to connote the permanence and strength of the bank; and etched munz metal - a metal used in shipping relating back to Charleston as a sea port. The metal will patina over time much like copper.
