The Lewis Archer McMurran Building anchors Christopher Newport University’s Great Lawn opposite the Student Success Center. The project was programmed to gather several Liberal Arts departments under one roof.  The building contains one auditorium/lecture hall, two tiered classrooms, twenty standard classrooms, and seven seminar rooms.  Also included are office suites for nine departments, and ninety-eight faculty offices.

The 3 story 85,000 GSF structure is clad in brick and precast.  The primary feature of the public spaces is the central atrium. A monumental stair in serves as the central vertical circulation in the building and a ceremonial reception area for campus and accommodates various events and gatherings.
